Who answers for this site

whyispublicspeakingimportant.com is run on its own and decides what it notes about visits. Questions and requests about your data go to hello@whyispublicspeakingimportant.com.

What gets noted

You never have to tell us who you are. To learn which parts of the guide are useful, the page notes a visit, the page that sent you, how far you scrolled, whether the practice question came into view, whether you opened it and which practice link you followed. With each note goes your browser language, operating system, screen and window size, time zone and a random number kept in your browser. Your IP address is used for a rough location only and is not kept in full.

Who handles it

This site's own server forwards the notes to an analytics provider that stores them in the European Union. They are used only to improve this page. They are never sold or handed to advertisers.

What stays in your browser

No cookies are set. Your browser keeps the random number and a short session marker. Blocking the script changes nothing about how the page works.

Where the practice links go

Every practice link points to /first-rep on this site. That address looks only at your browser's user agent: Android devices continue to the Confidently app on Google Play, with the spot on the page you came from added as a referrer, and every other device continues to the App Store. The hop itself is not logged. Once you are in a store, Apple's or Google's terms and the app's own privacy policy apply.

Deleting your notes

Email us and we will delete the notes tied to your random number. Clearing this site's storage in your browser cuts that link straight away, because we have no other way to tell who you are.
